Job Description Job Description Description: DEFINITION The Citterio USA Trailer Transfer Position (Yard Jockey) The Yard Jockey is responsible for safely and efficiently moving trailers to and from dock doors, staging areas, and parking locations within the property. SUPERVISION RECEIVED This position reports directly to the Prosciutto Manager Requirements: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION NOTE: An employee assigned to this title shall perform a majority, but may not perform all, of the duties listed in this job description. Conversely, minor level duties performed on the job may not be listed. Move trailers through the facility and to a lot offsite in preparation for shipment to the customer Ensure trailers are correctly spotted for loading and unloading based on the schedule. Perform basic pre- and post-trip inspections of yard tractors and trailers for safety, functionality, and regulatory compliance. Maintain an organized and safe yard environment by following traffic flow patterns and site procedures. Communicate with departments to coordinate trailer movements and priorities. Monitor trailer condition, including checking for open doors, seal integrity, and any damage. Adhere to all company safety protocols, including wearing appropriate PPE, and following yard driving rules. When not performing task of the Yard Jockey, this position will be utilized for other tasks in Receiving or Shipping. Must have good attendance. Other job duties as necessary. American Sign Language may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (a) Completion of a high school, or general equivalency diploma; and, (b) Valid driver’s license; CDL is required; and, (c) Ability to operate yard tractors and understand basic trailer handling procedures. (d) Knowledge of DOT and OSHA safety regulations related to yard operations. (e) Strong attention to detail and organizational skill; and, (f) Forklift certification (optional but beneficial); and, (g) Strong communication and teamwork skills. (h) Ability to work in outdoor conditions in various weather. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The employee is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Ergonomic risks from lifting heavy components and working in confined spaces, emphasizing the importance of ergonomic techniques and aids. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This role requires working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to cold temperatures and raw meat products. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts. Potential physical hazards related to working with machinery and electrical systems, which require adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment. The noise level in the work environment can be moderate or loud when entering the plant. Employees are required to wear proper food safe, steel toe shoes, hair net and beard net, nitrile gloves, frock, bump cap, hat, and proper hearing protection while working in certain areas.
