Job Description:
Description Responsible for providing a full range of speech
pathology services including assessment, treatment planning and
therapeutic interventions in an interdisciplinary environment
consistent with the position's qualifications, professional
practices and ethical standards. The incumbent shall also
demonstrate accountability for and contribution to program
development, quality improvement, problem-solving and productivity
enhancement in a flexible interdisciplinary fashion. Principal
Accountabilities: 1. Diagnoses and evaluates speech and language
skills as related to educational, medical, social, and
psychological factors. 2. Plans, directs, or conducts habilitative
and rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative
efficiency of individuals with communication problems of organic
and nonorganic etiology. 3. Provides counseling and guidance and
language development therapy to disabled individuals. 4. Reviews
individual file to obtain background information prior to
evaluation to determine appropriate tests and to ensure that
adequate information is available. 5. Administers, scores, and
interprets specialized hearing and speech tests. 6. Develops and
implements individualized plans for assigned clients to meet
individual needs, interests, and abilities. 7. Evaluates and
monitors individuals, using audiovisual equipment. Reviews
treatment plans and assesses individual performance to modify,
change, or write new programs. 8. Maintains records as required by
law, establishment's policy, and administrative regulations. 9.
Attends meetings and conferences and participates in other
activities to promote professional growth. 10. Performs other
related duties as assigned. Qualifications Level I - 0-3 years of
experience in outpatient, inpatient settings, pediatric and adult
settings - HS Diploma or equivalent. Specific Certification related
to position or Associates Degree/Technical Degree in related field.
Responsible for accurately and responsively performing varied
clinical tasks and problems of minimal complexity. Works under the
supervision of more experienced lab/diagnostic staff and/or
patient-facing staff. Vital STIM preferred. Licensed Speech
Pathologist in the state of NJ. Level II - 3-5 years of prior
experience - HS Diploma or equivalent. Specific Certification
related to position or Associates Degree/Technical Degree in
related field. All licenses and certifications needed to fulfill
the duties required. Performs moderately complex clinical
activities and/or leads patient care activities. Regularly
models/mentors and trains junior staff on technical skills. Serves
as technical specialist on daily tasks and cases. CFY will be
considered with pediatric background. CPR certification. ASHA
Certificate of Clinical Competence is highly recommended but not
required. Level III - 5 years of prior experience - All licenses
and certifications needed to fulfill the duties required of a
Technician at the state (s) and/or national level. Works on
problems of diverse scope and advanced complexity. Exercises
independent judgement on moderately to substantially complex cases.
Requires little instruction on day to day work and general
direction on more complex tasks and projects. Regularly trains
staff on technical skills.
