Job Description Radiologic Technologist – Casual Position
(Orthopedics/Sports Medicine) We’re looking for a skilled,
patient?focused Radiologic Technologist to join our Orthopedics and
Sports Medicine team on a casual/as?needed basis. This role is
ideal for someone who enjoys variety, teamwork, and a supportive
environment where everyone helps each other grow. Schedule & Work
Expectations - Typical hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.,
as needed. - Occasional rotations: - Early shift starting at 7:00
a.m. - Closing shift until all patients are checked out (as late as
6:00 p.m.) - These rotate fairly across the team. - Seasonal
commitment: - During the fall, our sports medicine team hosts a
Saturday morning football clinic. - Each technologist covers this
only about twice per season. Training & Locations - You’ll start at
our Ortho location, and once fully trained, you may occasionally
help cover time off at other nearby outpatient sites. - Our team
cross?trains at multiple locations, but schedule coverage is
shared, so off?site shifts are infrequent. What You’ll Do - Perform
diagnostic radiography procedures independently using established
protocols. - Apply sound judgment and clinical skill when adjusting
imaging techniques. - Use imaging equipment to acquire, analyze,
and document high?quality diagnostic images. - Identify patients
using two identifiers and follow all universal safety and
procedural protocols. - Review patient history, confirm physician
orders, and document required information in the electronic medical
record. - Administer PO and rectal contrast according to physician
orders and department policies. - Ensure exams are correctly coded
in the RIS, properly archived, and all related charges are
accurately entered. - Communicate clearly and compassionately with
patients to explain procedures and ease anxiety. - Collaborate with
team members across departments to keep patient care efficient,
respectful, and patient?centered. - Graduate of an ARRT?approved
Radiologic Technology program, OR currently completing the program
with a scheduled graduation date. - New grads may be hired before
graduation; during this time, you’ll work under indirect
supervision from an ARRT?certified technologist until your degree
is verified. - Outpatient work begins only after ARRT certification
is obtained. Licensure & Certification - ARRT Registry?Eligible at
the time of hire. - Must obtain full ARRT Radiography
certification: - Within 6 months of hire for technologists hired on
or after January 1, 2025 - Within 12 months of hire/transfer for
those hired before January 1, 2025 - BLS or CPR certification
(AHA?approved, including both classroom/didactic and hands?on
skills) must be completed within 30 days of hire. - If working at a
New York facility, you must hold: - ARRT or NMTCB certification and
- A New York State Department of Health license. Clearances
(Required) - Act 31 – Child Abuse Reporting (with renewal) - Act 33
– Child Abuse Clearance (with renewal) - Act 34 – Criminal
Background Check (with renewal) - Act 73 – FBI Fingerprinting
